The Firmware Tool will generate device-specific Programming Code that is often JTAG compatible. This code is compiled from the language that the firmware was designed in, either schematic or a Hardware Definition Language (HDL).

The most common HDLs are VHDL and Verilog. Although others exist, the art is virtually the same between them all.

The Firmware Tool output files are used by:
    Electronic Engineering,
    Manufacturing Engineering,
    Production.

Some files are "scratchpad" files used by the tool that should be archived for future development. All these files should be ISO-9000 compliant in form and stored in a compliant system. This is as much a matter of sanity as it is good business practice.
